FIFTH GRADE GIRLS PPA DEVELOPMENTAL TEAM SEEKING TEAMMATES

If you have a 5th grader who’s interested in learning the game of soccer with a team based on having fun and learning fundamentals, then we’re here for them! The Lafayette Shooting Stars is a Lafayette-based 5th grade girls developmental PPA team and we need three more players to fill our roster. Our season runs from September 18th through early November with practices on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 in Ray’s Meadow Park (just east of Connecticut and East-West Hwy) and games on Saturdays (times vary). If you have an interested player, or have any questions,  please reach out to Jess Jones: . Thanks!

CAPITAL COTILLION:

If you are looking for a safe environment for your young kids to socialize and meet other children, consider https://capitalcotillion.com/.  They are actively registering for Fall 2024 programming.  In the fifth grade, there are many Lafayette girls registered.  More boys are needed to round out the class.

CUB SCOUT PACK 255 OPEN HOUSE – SEPTEMBER 8TH 2-4 PM

Hey Lafayette parents, does your K-5th son or daughter love spending time in the outdoors, showing off their creativity, having fun in a small group of friends, and earning super cool patches? Then Cub Scout Pack 255 is the place for them!

Pack 255 is a co-ed Pack based at Chevy Chase United Methodist Church (7001 Connecticut Ave.) that offers a fun and engaging program of activities designed to get kids outdoors, help them grow into good citizens and teammates, and earn recognition along the way. Scouts can participate in fun adventures like our two overnight camping trips (with parents), the iconic Pinewood Derby where they build their own model car and race it, community service projects like Scouting for Food, as well as games, nature walks, fire station visits, and plenty of other adventures. If you have a potential Scout who loves to do all that, bring them over to our open house at Chevy Chase United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 8th anytime between 2-4pm. We’ll have displays for some of our favorite activities, a few current Scouts in uniform, and a mock Raingutter Regatta for a little taste of the fun and excitement of being a Cub Scout. If you can’t make it, check out our website (https://www.cubpack255.info) or email Cubmaster Joe Longa (.:

JOIN SCOUTING NIGHT FOR CUB SCOUT PACK 52

Where: All Saints Church
Great Hall
3 Chevy Chase Circle, Chevy Chase, MD 20815

When: Tuesday, September 3rd, 7:00 – 8:00 PM

If you have a son who is a 1st through 5th grader and likes to have fun, explore new things and enjoys the outdoors, consider joining Cub Scout Pack 52! We currently have very limited availability for Scouts in 2nd through 5th grade due to our current Den sizes, but we will try to accommodate all families. We will create a waitlist for grades that do not have current openings.

Tuesday, September 3rd is Pack 52’s “Join Scouting Night” for prospective Scouts and their parents/guardians to come learn about our Pack.

Pack 52 draws its members from Northwest Washington and the Chevy Chase area, and has enjoyed a long presence at Lafayette, Murch, and Janney, as well as private elementary schools. The Pack typically meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Normally, the Pack meets in the Great Hall at All Saints Church on the Chevy Chase Circle. The Pack is made up of smaller groups called Dens, and Dens are organized by grade, with one to two Dens at each grade level. Dens will meet at least once a month as well, separately from the Pack. Each Den will determine their own schedule but often meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month or over a weekend.

Our Pack warmly welcomes Scouts and their parents/guardians from all backgrounds, faith traditions and family compositions. So, if your son enjoys new adventures, high-quality activities and events, and camping in the great outdoors, Pack 52 is for you!
